Don’t Worry, Yogurt Is Still Good for You!

A yogurt manufacturer, Dannon, is under fire for making potentially deceptive advertising claims. Marketing for some of their products stated that they would help regulate the digestive system in two weeks.

Link Between IBS and Allergies

A recent study found a significantly higher incidence of Irritable Bowel Syndrome in those who also had allergies or other allergic symptoms (eczema, asthma). When they say “significant,” they mean it: IBS occurs 2-3 times more often in people with allergies, compared to the general populace.

Common Problem Foods

My Battle with GERD, Part 2

When I went back for a check-up, the doctor told me to go see a dietitian who specialized in reflux control. By this point, I was already spooked by the preceding events, but that feisty little Irish-Italian woman really drove the point home: if I didn’t take care of my GERD, I would be at extremely high risk for several major health problems, including esophageal cancer. If nothing else, that got my attention, as I had just witnessed someone suffer from that and die very young just a few months prior. It was painful to watch, and not at all pretty, to say the least.

My Battle with GERD

I learned that I had GERD the hard way: by being rushed to the hospital after being unable to swallow! After being ignorant of my reflux issues for years, it all caught up with me in one very scary moment.
